Joni Hires


Joni was born and raised in Big Spring, Texas, and has never strayed far from her West Texas roots. After graduating from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth with degrees in Management and Marketing, Joni returned to West Texas, where she has spent the last 30+ years. Eighteen of those 30+ years were spent in healthcare, both as a marketing representative for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals and as a clinic administrator for the Midland Women’s Clinic. In 2017, Joni joined the FMH Foundation as a Project Manager and works with the private Foundation to award grants. In January 2021, Joni was appointed Executive Director. The Foundation’s focus is on the areas of healthcare and the arts, along with community and cultural interests

During college, Joni began public speaking and has continued that endeavor as a part-time passion. She has delivered keynote addresses at various events, served as pulpit supply in many small churches in West Texas, and led workshops for businesses and nonprofits. Joni is a John Maxwell Leadership Team Member and truly believes the values and leadership lessons the team represents. She blends warmth, humor, and authenticity to every setting.


Joni lives in Midland with her husband, Gary, who is the IT Director for Midland Shared Spaces. In their free time, they love to travel.
