Jen Brown | Life & Leadership Coach | Speaker | Former Diplomat

Jen Brown is a life and leadership coach, dynamic speaker, and former U.S. diplomat who empowers high-achieving professionals and teams to move from burnout and self-doubt to clarity, confidence, and sustainable leadership.

With 23 years as a Foreign Service Officer in the U.S. Department of State, including leadership roles across Latin America and Washington, D.C., Jen knows what it takes to lead through pressure, transition, and uncertainty. Her mission is to help leaders reconnect with their purpose, communicate with impact, lead with both strength and grace, and create a ripple effect within their teams and organizations.

Leadership in Action: U.S. Department of State

Throughout her diplomatic career, Jen led diverse teams, negotiated high-stakes policy, and advised senior leaders at the highest levels of government. She also served as an internal coach, guiding colleagues through leadership challenges and professional development.

Key roles include:

  • Chief of Staff, Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs: Supported Assistant Secretaries and senior leadership in coordinating high-level diplomatic engagements and implementing policy across 30+ countries. Provided strategic counsel on interagency collaboration, crisis response, and communication.
  • Deputy Director, Office of Mexican Affairs: Led a binational team addressing complex issues including trade, migration, and security. Balanced policy and diplomacy with strong cross-cultural leadership and interagency negotiation.
  • Consular Chief, U.S. Consulate General in Guayaquil, Ecuador: Managed a large multicultural team providing U.S. citizen services and visa operations in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment. Strengthened stakeholder engagement and mission continuity.
  • Global Contract Manager, Consular Services: Oversaw implementation and performance of a global contract supporting consular visa operations. Led contractor and team oversight, ensured contract continuity for new solicitation, and balanced contract and client service needs.
  • Foreign Service Assessor: Conducted rigorous, competency-based assessments of leadership potential for aspiring U.S. diplomats. Work grounded in organizational psychology, emotional intelligence, and talent development.
