Dr. Christa Evangelisto has made it her mission to inspire instructors to transform how they teach so that they can motivate learners to grow by educating them on adult learning principles. She began teaching biology at the college level and noticed that although college teachers were hired for their expertise in the subject, they often did not know how to reach adult learners. Instructors for adults are often not trained to teach, so they teach how they were taught. However, the methods they rely on are either outdated or based on theory designed for educating children and do not apply to today’s adult learners. Learners end up bored, frustrated, and uninspired in their courses.

She decided to pursue her doctorate in postsecondary and adult education to learn the best methods to motivate and teach adult learners. Her desire to teach teachers and trainers has led to beginning a speaking and consulting career, so that she can reach more than just college teachers and their students. Any adult that needs to teach people can benefit from her knowledge and expertise on adult learning techniques.
