Mr. Thomas “Sonny” Santos is a retired commander from the Honolulu Police Department. He served in all Police capacities from uniformed patrol, plainclothes investigation, five years in the Criminal Investigation Division, City emergency management response and lastly as an upper level administrator in Special Field Operations bureau for HPD. He continues to volunteer for the city and assists with leadership and supervisory development classes for the City of Honolulu.
Sonny’s Emergency Management background has allowed him to build his craft thru networking and building relationships on the Federal, State, local levels. Sonny is a certified John Maxwell Leadership instructor and continues to grow and learn as his does speaking engagements, coaching and leadership trainings across the Pacific. He is also a credentialed instructor for FEMA teaching Incident Command System courses, All Hazard’s Incident Management Team (Incident Commander, Liaison Officer and Operations Section Chief classes). Sonny holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Wayland Baptist University.
Sonny has and continues to present and conduct Leadership development, Crisis Management, Active Threat (shooter), emergency preparedness and readiness classes for various Hawaii Law Enforcement agencies, the University of Hawaiʻi system, medical institutions, Hawai`i State Department of Education schools, private schools, financial institutions and various community and church groups. Team work makes the dream work! Through his experience Sonny helps teams that are looking for improved team dynamics, growth, readiness and accountability. He is also available for emergency operational plan review and development.
