Sharing Mental Health Awareness In an Inspirational way by husband and wife team. (Caregiver & Caree schizophrenia)
Swiyyah & Dededrick Woodard married in 2015. Dederick never witnessed Swiyyah experiencing a break from reality because of Schizophrenia until after they were married.
After nursing her back to health they now share their inspiring story with many, write articles on healing, produce documentary videos, and provide consultation for pharmaceutical company's.
Many become empathetic after hearing Swiyyah's story and report they now feel they can live their dreams saying, "If she can do it. I can do it."
They also learn the effects of mental health challenges such as schizophrenia on families and staff, and how to be resilient in the mist of those challenges.
Swiyyah Woodard's Bio:
Best Selling Author, Swiyyah Woodard, obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and is certified in Creative Writing and TV Production.
After receiving her BA Degree, Swiyyah, was hospitalized 6 times and diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. (The most debilitating mental illness known to man).
She later published two fictional books inspired by her true story entitled, "Don't Call Me Crazy!" and a Christian Inspiration based on her life entitled, “Let’s Be Inspired: Undefeated Despite Schizophrenia.”
Her first book became required and suggested reading at an accredited 4-year University in:
- Writing,
- Reading,
- Abnormal and
- General Psychology.
She has been awarded as a Baynews9 Everyday Hero, seen by two million viewers, for teaching her community mental health awareness.
Raised Muslim, she gave her life to Christ after several Godly revelations and after meeting her husband, Pastor Dederick Woodard.
Even with schizophrenia Dederick stood by her side and helped to coach her to a normal state after she was later baker acted in 2018.
Dederick Woodard's Bio:
In addition to having the privilege of being a husband and caregiver to a wonderful wife, a father to my two wonderful daughters and also being the middle child to my siblings and two wonderful parents, I have been speaking professionally and equipping, engaging and empowering the community for 25 plus years.
I received my AA degree from SP College and I received a Youth Development Specialist certificate. I also utilize my certification to educate at-risk youth in low poverty communities.
I am the author of 'Discover U'," "Discover U Part II," "Thoughts to Plunder," and "I can plan it and I can do it." I am also VP of True Vine Empowerment Ministries Inc., a 501c status organization, which focuses on addressing community issues with education and positive engagement. I appreciate the privilege and opportunities to relate and have meaningful moments with my participants.
