Ruth Pearce
Chief Capacity Officer
NC, USRuth connects with and restores hope and energy in high-achieving professionals who look “fine” on the outside but are struggling privately.
Her talks are candid, funny, and practical—people leave with relief, clarity, and a next step that sticks.
Ruth Pearce, Esq. is a speaker and coach for high-achieving professionals who are done paying for their success with exhaustion. She helps people protect their performance and their health—without adding one more impossible “self-care to-do list” to an already overloaded life.
If your people are succeeding on paper and struggling in private, Ruth Pearce is the speaker you want.
Ruth brings credibility from three directions: the legal profession, coaching expertise, and lived experience. She is an attorney licensed in California and North Carolina, an ICF PCC credentialed coach, and a PMP. She earned her JD as valedictorian (Purdue Global Law School) and holds an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics. She also teaches ethics for Wellcoaches and has worked in high-pressure environments where decisions, people, and deadlines collide.
She also speaks from experience—because she’s been through burnout more than once. Ruth burned out while working full-time and completing her law degree. She recovered, kept going, and later hit burnout again in a demanding state government transformation role.
Her third burnout was the kind people remember: a “dream job” that became unsustainable when leadership wouldn’t address real risks. That moment pushed her to stop treating burnout like a personal weakness and start treating it like what it often is: a predictable outcome of chronic overload, unclear boundaries, and constant pressure to prove yourself.
Ruth has since built a body of work that reaches people at scale. She created multiple LinkedIn Learning courses on mindfulness, bravery, team engagement, burnout, and coaching skills, reaching 160,000+ learners.
She’s the author of Be Hopeful, Be Strong, Be Brave, Be Curious (Wiley, 2024) and Be a Project Motivator (Berrett-Koehler, 2018). She’s also a regular guest speaker at Suffolk University Law School and speaks to professional audiences who want practical tools—not platitudes.
What audiences get from Ruth: clarity, relief, and a plan. She teaches simple ways to spot burnout early, recover faster after stress spikes, and protect judgment and integrity under pressure. People leave with tools they can use immediately: reset skills for real workdays, boundary language that doesn’t backfire, and one realistic next step that makes life better—not busier.
Something a little more personal.
British-born and now a U.S. citizen, Ruth Pearce, Esq. has built her career inside complex systems—starting in economics, moving into large-scale program leadership, and later into law and coaching.
She earned her BSc in Economics (University of Bath), MSc in Economic Theory (London School of Economics), and JD (Concord Law School at Purdue University Global). Before founding A Lever Long Enough, Ruth led high-stakes work in demanding environments, including enterprise program leadership where outcomes depended on clarity, trust, and follow-through—not just intelligence.
She also has training in mediation and conflict resolution, which shows up in her calm, practical approach to difficult conversations.
Outside of work, Ruth is at her best in nature—under trees, near water, and usually with her two dogs (while her two rabbits run the home base).
She loves synthesizing ideas across disciplines, and her “perfect job” is simple: get paid to learn—then translate what she learns into tools people can use immediately.

I had the opportunity to listen to the Ethical Conversations with Ruth within Module 1 at Wellcoaches. I continue to reflect on the discussions, facilitated by Ruth. Setting boundaries and ethical aspects of relationships with clients outside of coaching sessions; Using AI in the coaching business and the importance of understanding which tools we use are actually the AI tools. Importance of being accurate with what coaches promise vs what they can actually deliver. All three sessions were very useful!

Over the last few years, Ruth has been a welcome and engaging guest lecturer in several of my courses at Suffolk University Law School. She helps students explore their character strengths and how to use them wisely. In addition to offering her expertise, Ruth has been willing to share how she overcame some challenges in her legal studies and preparing for her Bar examination. Even though she has often had to meet with my students on ZOOM rather than in person, Ruth has continued to connect with them in ways that helps bring out their best, including even offering complimentary coaching to students who could benefit from it. I am pleased to recommend her; please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Verificado @gmail.comThe group coaching sessions were spectacular. That was my first time experiencing such a thing. I did not know what to expect but thought I would give it a whirl. The benefit to the session was that the group participants were able to feed and build off one another. The candid and heartfelt input was invaluable. I learn things about myself from the session that I didn't know because I never took the time to think in that manner. It helped me to slow down and synthesize the information that I was consuming. I recommend this to everyone that wants to deep dive into the dissection of life and the many approaches to why people think the way they do....very fascinating. Thank you to Ruth and the team for the rich discussion!

During the meeting, Ruth was invited to speak and share her story and expertise. To start, she had the group participate in an activity that truly calmed the mind and allowed everyone to re-center and focus. In an online setting, this could be challenging but Ruth was able to accomplish this with more than 150 participants on the webinar! VerificadoRuth's presentation was one of my favorite IPM Day presentations in the past two years! It reiterated to me that our society focuses on detriments, not strengths, and that this is a passion of mine - strength-spotting along with the power of play. I also appreciated the nudge that strengths don't always need to be used: are you overusing your strength or do you need to dial it down a bit or even take a day off of engaging a strength. We can choose how we want to put ourselves out in the world each day. Leaders who use what she's recommending, likely Servant Leaders, will find this a wonderful addition to their toolkit and can increase employee satisfaction, engagement and productivity. She gave helpful recommendations and great reminders to own our superpowers (ones that are energizing, essential, effortless). Who doesn't remember the teacher who could have written 99% but instead wrote -1...PMs, let's empower by focusing on the strengths!
