Karen Thorpe
Life has many certainties; change, loss, and adversity. No one skates through life without experiencing challenges.
Karen shares her stories and how we can all Rock through the Tough Stuff.
After a long career in corporate leadership building strong relationships with clients, staff, and leaders across organizations, Karen now shares lessons and first-hand knowledge of life's adversities and how to navigate through to the other side, finding purpose in all things. After a long career as a trainer, leader, speaker, and national account manager highly regarded for strong team building and a servant leadership style influenced by many challenging life events, Karen has learned to use strength along with an open heart and an awareness of how individuals grow with each life experience, good or bad. As a member of the NSA (National Speakers Association) and a board member of the NSA-MN Chapter, she is fulfilling her purpose. Her goal; share how loss, addiction, family trauma, and constant change affect us all. And how we need to all be aware so we can help each other become resilient in the face of adversity/tough stuff.
A mother of three, Karen has endured losing all three of her children at different times and under very different circumstances. The most recent loss on January 1, 2021, of her youngest son, Scott who fought addiction for years, awakened her purpose to share how to be resilient, R.O.C.K. through the tough stuff, unpack your emotions, and live a full life. She has a strong belief in the power of faith and community service. She works on a part-time basis at the Lakes Crisis and Resource Center and other volunteer efforts in Detroit Lakes, MN where she lives with her husband John, and their two lovable cats, Kipper, and Raja. They love being in northern MN most of the time and enjoy landscaping, traveling, reading, and living life. And Karen had become a prolific photographer of Kipper and Raja in every aspect of their lives.
