Garret Biss
TEDx, USMC (Ret.), MRED, CPRC
NC, USGarret helps audiences understand the human side of military transition, equipping leaders, campuses, ERGs, and Veteran-serving organizations with practical tools for connection, identity, resilience, recovery, and post-traumatic growth.
Virtual | Hybrid | In-Person Presentations Available
Garret Biss is a Veteran resilience speaker, retired Marine Corps officer, TEDx speaker, author, and certified recovery coach who helps audiences understand the human side of military transition.
After serving as a Marine Corps KC-130J Aircraft Commander, Garret experienced firsthand how leaving the military can disrupt identity, belonging, purpose, and emotional well-being. His work now helps organizations see beyond the surface of Veteran transition and better understand what happens when capable, disciplined, mission-driven people lose the structure, clarity, and community that once organized their lives.
Garret speaks for conferences, corporate Veteran ERGs, higher education programs, recovery communities, behavioral health audiences, justice-involved Veteran programs, and military-connected organizations. His message is practical, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and deeply human.
Rather than presenting Veterans as broken, Garret helps audiences recognize the strengths Veterans bring — discipline, resilience, leadership, adaptability, responsibility, and service — while also understanding the hidden transition challenges that can affect engagement, recovery, relationships, confidence, and long-term growth.
Garret is the creator of the CAM Framework™ — Connection, Authenticity, and Meaning — a strengths-based model for helping Veterans rebuild belonging, identity, purpose, and resilience after service. His presentations blend lived experience, Marine Corps leadership, applied positive psychology, recovery insight, humor, storytelling, and immediately usable tools.
Audiences leave with a clearer understanding of Veteran transition, practical language for supporting Veterans more effectively, and a renewed belief that growth is possible beyond survival, compliance, or simply “getting by.”
Garret’s programs are especially relevant for Veterans events, military-connected employee resource groups, student Veteran programs, behavioral health and recovery conferences, Veteran Treatment Court teams, leadership audiences, and organizations that want to create conditions where Veterans and the people who support them can thrive.
