
Lisa Duez
LCSW, MPA, CSAC
VA, USLisa Duez is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20-years' experience in the mental health field. She holds graduate degrees in Public Administration from Troy State University, and Clinical Social Work from Norfolk State University. Ms. Duez also holds an Approved Supervisor Credential (ACS) and is also a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC).
Ms. Duez spent time working in community mental health and outpatient counseling. Ms. Duez has provided clinical services in a variety of settings
and with a variety of populations including substance abuse, families, veterans, adolescents, and children. Ms. Duez has held several clinical director positions and has been a part of the implementation of several trauma-informed programs and grants in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Ms. Duez is the owner of Turning Point Counseling and Consulting, a trauma informed mental health practice in Hampton Roads, Virginia.
Ms. Duez strongly believes in implementing trauma informed care principles on both a macro and a micro level in organizations by training staff on trauma informed practices and employing therapists that are willing to practice with trauma informed principles.

A highly trained trauma therapist, Mrs. Duez is an EMDRIA certified therapist
and Approved Consultant. She regularly provides clinical supervision to
Supervisee in Social Work and has recently developed a training titled Mental
Health Matters, which is geared toward the Law Enforcement Community, and
a training for individuals in supervision to become therapists on managing
Transference and Countertransference. Ms. Duez's clinical work is also geared
toward trauma informed practice, and Ms. Duez utilizes Internal Family
Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavior therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement
Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to assist clients resolve trauma and
move forward in their healing.
Ms. Duez enjoys helping others see the value in caring for mental health as one would care for physical health. As a trauma therapist, Ms. Duez likes to help other see that their own experiences do not need to define their current narrative.
Ms. Duez has been a member of the Adjunct Faculty at Tidewater Community
College for over 19 years, teaching classes in the Administration of Justice
Program. She is on the leadership team of the Virginia Community Response
Network, (VCRN) and is a graduate of Virginia's Streetwise MBA program.
Ms. Duez is a proud law enforcement spouse and mother of two United States
Army Soldiers. She is an avid reader, hiker, and traveler.
