Create cultures and communities that prioritize authenticity and inclusion by modeling and implementing the power of empathy and story. Slam poetry that is engaging, instructional, and life changing.

Andre Bradford, a.k.a. S.C. Says, is an Austin based slam poet who has been performing slam poetry and speaking 2017. He's toured and featured at venues, universities, and businesses across the country, and his work has been featured in the Huffington Post, Write About Now, The Edge radio, The Culture Trip, and Blavity. He is a two time Austin Poetry Slam Champion, a three time Texas Grand Slam Finalist, and is the author of the upcoming book Golden Brown Skin. He also once popped a bag of popcorn without burning a single kernel, which is arguably one of his greatest achievements.

His poetry covers a gamut of topics ranging from being mixed race, to the power of kindness, to mental health awareness, to never settling in relationships. Slam poetry is an art form he loves due to its raw vulnerability and its ability to cultivate transparency and dialogues into many different walks of life.

Empathy Deep Dive Workshop

In this hour-long workshop I create space for participants to discuss the themes and poems expressed during my show, and lead them through two activities designed to facilitate a more empathetic disposition. Participants will get to identify and vocalize aspects of their lived experience that we don't get to talk about in our everyday conversations, and gain additional insight into how they can foster more empathy in their own lives and in their communities.

Slam Poetry Writing Workshop

In this hour-long workshop I guide new and experienced writers through three tools I've used to write moving and competition winning slam poems. I also give participants two writing prompts designed to get their creativity flowing, and provide feedback on poems that are shared during the workshop. At the end of the workshop participants will have the opportunity to share their story and creativity, and get to hear the stories and creativity of their peers.
