I led teams up to 1650 people during my 27-yr Air Force Career. And teams impacting 56,000 during my 9-yr corporate career. Today I bring that leadership experience to corporate platforms to inspire action to change the status quo.


While in Baghdad Iraq in 2004, hundreds of millions of Iraq Reconstruction Program funding were going down the drain. Don led a team of 7-experts that identified actions across the entire program that saved over $423M in the first year. The various program managers resisted, but the 3-Star equivalent leader blessed the plan and briefed Congress and Secretary of the Army. The result was more schools, clinics, water systems and more were funded for the Iraqi people.


Coming into a squadron whose leader was fired, I analyzed the landscape and identified areas for change. Improving processes and building new relationships, plus instilling accountability, produced results. The squadron was named #2 Large Civil Engineer Squadron (CES) in the Air Force, and the wing won the Commander in Chiefs Installation Excellence Award along with cash. The lasting impact resulted in the squadron being named #1 Large CES months after his departure.


When the Major Command Mission Support Inspection Team Chief stated the best inspection record to date, my team said "that was the record!." The team beat it, by a wide margin. I inspired the team during preparation to look under every leaf and paper to find areas not in compliance. Squadron leaders made the near impossible happen. Unit morale soared.


In summary, I gave my teams the challenge, fostered their development, provided the resources, cleared the path, and then encouraged their success. I built trust and fostered a servant mindset supporting the wing. Each day I loved seeing each individual's thirst for personal growth and success increase as they achieved many personal and team awards plus top inspection ratings.


I bring this same energy to my consulting and speaking. Understanding personality styles and resistance tendencies, I bring recommendations to improve trust, relationships, culture, and thus goal achievement. I will leverage these experiences and my continued training as an Executive Director with the Maxwell Leadership Team to foster your growth.
