Michael is a rare combination – a working creative professional who is also trained and skilled in facilitating creativity and innovation breakthroughs for leaders, entrepreneurs, teams, and coaches.


As a coach, he is heavily accredited, certified as a Master of Creativity and Innovation Coaching, Master NLP Practitioner, Hypnotherapist, Team Coach, and in the following additional disciplines: Executive, Recovery, Thought Leadership, Intercultural, Laughter, and Abundance.


As a filmmaker his shows have won 5 South African Film and TV Awards (SAFTAs) and he is currently producing two major international projects. He worked for more than two decades as a producer and director of documentary and reality programming in Africa, the US, and Europe. He began his career as a Story Editor for Castle Rock Pictures in Hollywood, and continues to empower other filmmakers today as an approved Script Editor for the SA NFVF and KZN Film Commission.


As an editor of text, he co-founded the seminal literary magazine TRAFIKA in Prague in 1993, which went on to feature in the NY Times Magazine and on NBC News with Tom Brokaw and published new work in original and translation from authors in over twenty countries. More recently, he edited the 3x award-winning best-seller Innovation Starts With I, by Saleema Vellani, and is currently editing the fiction work Zeppelin Zeke, by Adam Fleming, and several upcoming non-fiction books.


His organization Innotivity Institute is currently partnering with Constitution Hill and Gauteng Economic Propeller to deliver The Innovation Explosion at no cost to one hundred entrepreneurs in Johannesburg.


He is currently consulting as a Global Advisor to the Silicon Valley firm Innovation Minds on strategy and marketing as well as serving as their lead facilitator for innovation sprints for their clients. Formerly he served as their VP for Strategy and Marketing before moving on to this consulting role. He also has been their spokesperson on their podcast and LinkedIn livestreams.


After receiving his BA and MA at Stanford in 1990, he has lived in the California, New York, and Boston areas, but has spent most of his adult life living outside the US in Budapest, Prague, Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Abuja, Nigeria. He speaks and understands Spanish and French and can read in German, Czech, and Russian.


He worked in Nigeria and the DRC numerous times as the director of top reality shows for Gulder Brewery, Vodacom, and Sprite, as well as on documentary projects. He was also the Head of Factual Programmes for the short-lived international news station Gotel International, based out of Abuja and Yola, and covered the war against Boko Haram in numerous segments, including some filmed from Mubi and other military hot-spots.
