Brigitta Rubin
Brigitta Baugher Rubin is an entrepreneurial scientist and science fiction writer on an eternal quest for unconventional thinkers and disruptive ideas. She lives in a state of perpetual career metamorphosis -- working with surgeons, terrorism experts, synthetic biologists, and even prison wardens; all of whom are destined to become part of her next story and network of innovators ready to shatter the status quo.
I got fired 9 months into my dream job, and was diagnosed with a major heart condition a month later. My new job was chaotic and required hours of learning about new technologies, managing dozens of engineering teams, and trying to navigate the painful political machinations of large-scale government programs. I felt like I was drowning in deep scientific principles that were over my head and overwhelmed by the constant political in-fighting. Over the next year, I discovered that while I was far from the smartest person in the room, I had knack for connecting disparate ideas and organizations to create innovative programs. Today, I have wide technical awareness, a network that spans nearly every industry as well as public and private organizations, and have continued to hone the creativity and communication skills required to lead innovation teams in today's ever-changing environment.
