Traditional Cuban music runs in her veins, and jazz, American funk, and Latin American music have shaped her artistic personality. Caribbean, Afro American, Afro Latin, and Latin American musical rhythms create a harmonious fusion in Leslie Cartaya's music; a Grammy and Latin Grammy Nominee singer-songwriter and producer that has been able to tour internationally as an independent artist. Leslie has a wide range of repertoire going from the most dance-able and hot Latin rhythms to more soothing and romantic sounds. She incorporates Salsa, Son, Rumba, Funk, Pop and Reggae in her two Albums No Pares and Llevame Contigo.
Her flexible repertoire allows for creative ensembles put together according to the performance needs. This allows her to have a Duet of her playing the piano and a percussion player in an acoustic setting; a quintet for more Latin Jazz, Brazilian, Latin American and Cuban Sounds oriented performances; as well as a nine-piece bigger band for more explosive funkier and bigger sounding repertoire.
