Philanthropist Current Project: Nikki currently serves as the founder and CEO of the next great eco-sustainable lifestyle brand - BAYOU WITH LOVE. Nikki launched BYL in 2017 with a mission to create socially conscious, sustainable, better-for-the-earth, fashionable apparel, accessories, and lifestyle products. Bayou With Love received the Audience Award at CES 2018 and was anointed Best of the Fest by Engadget. She was most recently named one of the top 35 entrepreneurs to watch in 2019 by Causeartist for her work with Bayou.
Film History:
Nikki first broke into Hollywood by co-writing and starring in the critically acclaimed independent feature THIRTEEN (directed by Catherine Hardwick). The film is loosely based on her life growing up in Los Angeles. Nikki became a household name when Hardwick selected her to star as "the most beautiful vampire in the world" - 'Rosalie Hale' - in the TWILIGHT film franchise. The franchise released five films, grossed over a billion dollars at the box office, and took Nikki across the world and back on extensive global press tours. Nikki's film appearances include roles in A SUNDAY HORSE, PAWN alongside Forest Whitaker, Ray Liotta and Common, EMPIRE STATE with Liam Hemsworth, Michael Angarano, and Dwayne Johnson, CATCH .44, LORDS OF DOGTOWN alongside Heath Ledger and Emile Hirsch and MAN OF GOD.
Television History: Nikki recently had a recurring role in Netflix's V WARS as 'Rachel Swann' wife to real-life husband Ian Somerhalder's character 'Dr. Luther Swann'. She also appeared in an episode of Hulu's DOLLFACE (2019) starring Shay Mitchell and Kat Dennings where she sang and lead an unforgettable musical number. In 2016, Nikki played the role of 'Betsy Ross' in the third season of the hit FOX drama SLEEPY HOLLOW. Nikki also appeared on THE O.C. as 'Sadie Campbell'.
Producing/Directing History: In 2016, Nikki and husband Ian Somerhalder inked a pod deal for their production company RARE BIRDS PRODUCTIONS with Warner Brothers – in addition to themselves they have two full-time executives at the company housed on the WB lot. Nikki also had the opportunity to direct ESPN's THINK NORMAL, a Nine for IX Short centered around autism.
Fashion History: In May 2017, Nikki launched fashion brand BAYOU WITH LOVE - the line sources incredible materials like a luxurious vegan leather to make oversized backpacks, and cupro, a part of the cotton plant that is generally discarded during farming, to make silky soft tie-dyed pajamas and floaty dresses. In January 2018, Nikki and BYL collaborated with Dell Computers on a fine jewelry collection, made in the US from gold harvested from recycled computer motherboards. Nikki and Dell launched the partnership at the 2018 CES (Consumer Electronics Show) and won the People's Choice Award with over 30% of the vote!
Music History: Nikki is a talented indie-folk singer/songwriter who released her first EP "The Best Part" in 2012 and album "I'm Not Falling" in 2014. She has recently self-produced her third album, poised for a 2019 release.
Philanthropy: Nikki is a passionate supporter of women, the environment, and animal rights. Nikki is the VP of Fundraising for ISF, the Ian Somerhalder Foundation, which counts 12 full-time employees and 280 dedicated volunteers in over 180 countries. They participated together in the NAT GEO special YEARS OF LIVING DANGEROUSLY and Nikki has since dedicated her social media each Sunday to educating people on climate change.
Family: Nikki is married to actor Ian Somerhalder (best known for CW's THE VAMPIRE DIARIES) and the couple reside in Los Angeles. They welcomed daughter, Bodhi, in Summer 2017.
