Dr. Gigi Johnson runs transformative programs, speaks/moderates, invests, advises, and produces multimedia on how we work, live, and create in an AI- and algorithmic-enmeshed world.


Her current initiatives include:

  • ❇️ speaking at virtual and live events globally on tech/creative transformation;
  • ❇️ co-building futuring programs and conferences focused on transforming co-learning systems, creative industries ecosystems, spaces/places/communities, and business models
  • ❇️ creating books and transformative programs on technology and creative work;


She founded Maremel (now Rethink Next) 20 years ago as an advisory firm, content producer, and conference co-creator around media, technology, and learning.


At the same time, she worked for 22 years at UCLA, where she ran the Center for Music Innovation, built and hosted the podcast "Innovating Music," expanded three industry-connecting programs at UCLA Anderson, designed conferences and events, and taught more than 2,000 undergraduates, MBAs, and executives about disruption in creative industries.


Between her MBA at UCLA and working there, she financed M&A in transforming media sectors at Bank of America for ten years. Her educational journey also included a doctoral degree in leadership for change from Fielding Graduate University and a BA in film/TV production from USC Cinematic Arts.


She has taught in Spain, Abu Dhabi, Copenhagen, and Beijing, and have spoken on tech/media/creative transformation at Web Summit, Collision Conference, SXSW (6x), EPIC International Summit, Academy of Management, MEIEA, Mallen Conference, Sociable City Summit, UCLA, MusicBiz, Transforming Hollywood, Digital Hollywood, ISTE, and Digital Music Forum.
