Russ started his career as an officer in the United States Marine Corps, where his career culminated as an infantry company commander, leading 175 combat Marines. After his time in the Marines, Russ co-founded Pathfinders, a supply chain consulting company focused on helping mid-sized manufacturing companies become more efficient. In 2005, Russ obtained his MBA from The Wharton School of Business. From there, Russ joined Google where his responsibilities ranged from sales and marketing leadership for a $750M advertising business focusing on the largest global companies to responsibility for hundreds of thousands of partnerships with the smallest companies around the globe. In 2012, Russ founded the Small and Medium advertiser business for Twitter, which services 130,000 advertisers worldwide.

Russ lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife, Verlana and 3 sons, Anthony, Chas, and Starks.
