Amusing after-dinner stories from over 30 years of policing the inner city of Liverpool, some irreverent views on management, and a particular slant on the 'North South Divide'.

Born and bred in Liverpool, Peter joined Merseyside Police in 1981, after a flirtation with a career in Dentistry. It was at Dental School that he first spoke after dinner, in his role as the "Dental Jester".

Peter retired from the Police as a Superintendent in 2011 having spent the last 30 years in a variety of policing roles, both uniform, and CID. A former Senior Investigating Officer and head of 'Management Development and Training', he  has appeared on the BBC's "Crimewatch" with the late Jill Dando, and lectured to international audiences on the subject of Organised crime. Outside the Police he has  acted as a script consultant on a film that went on to win awards at the Edinburgh film festival and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for charity.

Since retirement he's started his own business in the hospitality sector, worked for the NHS as a 'Security Management Specialist', appeared as a 'supporting artist' (that's 'extra' to most of us!) in a number of television dramas, and at the opposite end of the scale, acted as a consultant/contractor on the NATO summit in Wales 2014.

Peter is a former player, coach and Chairman of Merseyside Police Rugby Union Football Club, and refereed for a number of years before he hung up his boots.

Married with three daughters, his interests include skiing, fell walking, cycling and learning to speak Spanish. In 2017 he walked the Camino de Santiago from the French Pyrennees to Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, and liked it so much he's just done it again, by a different route in September 2018. In addition he describes himself as an occasional sailor and unsuccessful kite surfer.

In over 30 years he's collected some hilarious stories from his experiences policing the inner city of Liverpool, and he's happy to share them.
