Increase your productivity by building exceptional teams and developing highly effective team members and leaders

I'm the owner of AWD Development Solutions and I'm a people and team development specialist. I set up my business after working for 26 years at Rolls-Royce plc. I bring my significant experience and expertise to ambitious businesses and organisations who want to grow by developing their people and building high performing teams. I do this in a creative, flexible and relevant way that recognises the context of their business.

I help businesses who have teams that don't deliver consistently. They may have conflict between team members and teams which are dysfunctional and don't gel. They may have demotivated team members and a lack of engagement. They may want to bring a new team together quickly and effectively to deliver projects (team start-ups). Or they may want their senior team to work together to define the business strategy.

Using my practical and pragmatic team development framework (the Exceptional Team Blueprint), I help teams create greater focus, improve relationships, manage their work more effectively and develop more capable and engaged team members and leaders. This results in more efficient and effective teams, improved delivery - to quality, time and budget - and ultimately improved business performance, outcomes and growth potential.

I work with all types of teams including; project teams, whole business teams, management and supervisory teams, senior and executive teams, and working groups.

I've got a unique mix of experience and professional qualifications. I started as an engineer then moved into HR and Development roles. I've been a member of successful project and senior business teams and have led teams of up to 50 people, including globally. I'm a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD, a Member of the Professional Speaking Association, and have Level A and B psychometric accreditation. I've an Engineering degree and qualifications in Engineering Business Management and Personnel Management.

I deliver talks in the area of team and people development and I've published a book called 'The Exceptional Team Blueprint'. This is based on the framework I created and is a practical approach to building high performing teams and developing exceptional team members and leaders.

To complement my work on team development, I also help businesses create and deliver employee and organisation development strategies, processes and solutions. My work has included leadership development programme design and delivery, new facility start up, organisation development, change management and improvement, talent management, coaching, early career and high potential employee development, and conference and event design and facilitation.

I'm a volunteer with the 'Inspiring the Future' organisation, a Trustee of the DHA charity in Derby, and a volunteer mentor for students at the University of Derby and Nottingham Trent University.

I set up AWD Development Solutions in April 2014 to focus on what I really enjoy doing – developing people and teams so they can grow businesses.

Becoming an Exceptional Team Member

This talk presents an overview of the four elements from my Exceptional Team Blueprint.

It is delivered in the context of how we can all become more effective team members and therefore positively influence the performance of the teams we're members of, without being in a leadership position.

We can positively influence the teams we're part of in both our professional and personal life.
