Jim's an incredible community member and gifted speaker. Aside from being Hub101's first Entrepreneur in Residence, Jim speaks regularly at Hub101. His talk last night, "How public speaking gives you a bigger forum to do what matters", was especially informative and inspiring. Last Wednesday evening, I had a terrific dinner and conversation with Jim Cathcart at Casa Nostra Restaurant in Westlake Village, CA. Jim is an internationally acclaimed speaker and writer. While he's published 18 books, here are three must reads: his most recent, "The Self Motivation Handbook", "The Acorn Principle", and the one that launched provides the driving force behind his career, "Relationship Selling". If you haven't read any of Jim's books, shame on you. Regardless of your career and station in life, his books and presentations are transformational. I'm so grateful to Jim because he's agreed to coach me through completing and publishing a book that I'm currently writing. The working title is "In Business as in Golf". It's 18 chapters (no coincidence) plus a bonus 19th hole chapter, each illustrating a golf principle that's applicable to business and vice versa. True stories, legendary stories, humor and philosophy are all woven into the fabric of the book. Jim's first coaching advice to me was, "You're no longer retired... you're a writer!"
