Michael Lombardi

The Evidence Based Investing conference is attended by investment professionals from all across the country. The irony is that there are few things we can say for certain when it comes to investing, but one of the incontrovertible facts is this: process trumps outcome. You can't control what the market does, which is why the best investors focus on the process. A good process stacks the odds in your favor. Michael Lombardi made a very successful career focusing on a good process. We wanted to bring in some voices outside of finance, and because there are so many parallels between sports and investing, this was an obvious world to choose from. I've been a fan of Michael Lombardi's work for a long time now, so when we thought about who to invite, he was our first and last option. Michael was kind enough to say yes, and he exceeded all expectations. This was a two and a half day event, and Michael was the last speaker. Because this was an event for financial professionals, I was nervous that attendance would be a bit light. I was very wrong. The room filled up to see him speak, and there were more questions asked of Michael than any other speaker for the entire event. He was nice enough to stay after and schmooze with the audience. Michael was professional from beginning to end, and he absolutely crushed. The content was great, as was his delivery. Michael stayed in his lane, but also made his presentation relevant for the audience he was speaking to. If you're looking for somebody to light up the room, I cannot recommend Michael highly enough.

Michael spoke at a client dinner we hosted. First of all, Michael was incredibly flexible and accommodating throughout the whole process. He was more than willing to work with us to tailor his presentation to our client base and the format we desired. Second, Michael is a phenomenal and engaging speaker. We've all heard many speakers from the sports world try to bridge the gap between their experiences and lessons for business. It is a tough task for most. But Michael has thought deeply about what made organizations like the 49ers and Patriots successful and he has worked hard on figuring out how to best communicate those concepts to everyday people. His principles are simple and understandable yet powerful, and he illustrates them with captivating stories from his time in the NFL. He isn't afraid to share tough truths and non-obvious lessons. Third, Michael's intellectual curiosity is palpable and contagious. He is still learning, and that makes interactions with him fun and exciting. Finally, Michael is just an incredibly nice guy. I've heard many speakers at various functions and conferences, and I'd put Michael at the top of the pack. Both our team and our clients were incredibly energized and engaged by the event.

We recently engaged Michael Lombardi as a speaker at our 2018 Unitrends sales kick-off meeting in Boston on Tuesday, February 6. He is very personable and brought a lot of humor and a demonstration of his engagement was a Q&A session at the end that could have gone on for hours. Michael Lombardi's Pre-Combine presentation to our 2018 class was invaluable to their full training experience at Sports Academy. The knowledge and expertise that he was able to share with the athletes was unlike any other.
