Matthew Brady
MBA, MPhil
AL, USMatthew has always been a fighter. He was born 3 months pre-mature, weighing barely 1 pound. His chances of survival were so slim, his family stopped visiting after the first week and he remained unnamed, known throughout the hospital simply as "Baby Boy Brady."
Today, US Army Major (ret) Matthew Brady is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point where he was ranked #1 of 940 cadets in leadership for 7 consecutive semesters and graduated in the top 5% of his class overall. While serving in the Army on active duty, Matt flew over 2,000 hours in the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior (Reconnaissance), MH-47D, and MH-47G Chinook helicopters (Army Special Operations). A seasoned combat veteran, he has deployed 12 times to both Iraq and Afghanistan and commanded forces during multiple high stakes/pressure conflicts including the 3rd Infantry Division charge to Baghdad in 2003 and "Operation REDWINGs," the tragic SEAL mission depicted in the movie "Lone Survivor." Matt actually commanded and flew the helicopter into the mission, dropping Marcus Luttrell behind enemy lines, and then had to rescue them all after his commander took his seat from him and was shot down and killed shortly thereafter. For these and other actions still classified, Matt was twice awarded the Air Medal with "V" for individual heroism in both theaters of war and the Bronze Star Medal from General Stanley McChrystal, then the commanding general of the secretive Joint Special Operations Command.
In 2012, Matt was selected as 1 of 4 Army Majors out of 10,000 to directly advise the CSA of the Army (CEO) on emerging warfighting technologies and strategic capabilities required to prevail in future conflicts. Furthering his development as a military strategist, he was then selected to attend Harvard Business School as the only active duty military member of his class, graduating in 2016 with a Master's degree in Business Administration. Since HBS, Matt has served as a strategic advisor to the Co-Founder and CPO of Airbnb and project leader in the company's internal innovation lab and retired from the U.S. Army after two decades of service to the Nation.
