Following the deadly Las Vegas shooting in October 2017, Rich found himself turning to the same platform as the foundation for his personal recovery having been onstage as the tragedy unfolded. Rich received a Master's Degree in Music Education from the acclaimed University of North Texas in 1995. While there, Rich played in The 1:00 Lab Band; the most acclaimed collegiate big band on the planet.
