Stacy Bernal is the former first-ever Inclusion & Belonging Manager for the Utah Jazz, as well as a highly sought after international TEDx speaker. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Weber State University with a BA in Communication and is studying for a Master's in Public Administration from Southern Utah University.


In 2018, inspired by her neurodiverse son, she founded Awesome Autistic Ogden, an annual autism appreciation event turned community resource. In September 2022 she was recognized by Utah Business and Living Color Utah as an Inspirational Leader and in November that same year, she won her election to the Ogden School Board, earning nearly 65% of the vote. She was a 2024 candidate for the Utah State Senate where she honed her skills in communication, engaging thousands of Utahns in important conversations, and earning the trust of nearly 21,000 voters from across three counties in northern Utah.


During her time with the Utah Jazz, Stacy implemented companywide initiatives modeled after NBA best practices. She led the Culture of Inclusion Committee, created the internal framework for a partnership with the Women's Leadership Institute, and facilitated the relationship with Equality Utah to certify the organization as a Business Equality Leader in 2023-24. Some of her favorite memories during her time there were creating the Diversity Supplier Summit ahead of the 2023 NBA All-Star Game; moderating a conversation with Dwyane Wade during Black History Month; and hosting a workshop for young adults with disabilities, complete with time for them to hoop it up on the Jazz basketball court.


Stacy is passionate about empowering people to live their biggest and most authentic lives. She’s an outspoken advocate for disability rights, inclusion, and representation and she’s known to challenge the status quo on occasion. She has been featured on HuffPost, Thrive Global, Chicago Now, Scary Mommy, Autism Parenting Magazine, and HER Magazine. In 2019 she published her first book, The Things We Don’t Talk About: A Memoir of Hardships, Healing, and Hope.


Stacy lives happily with her family and fur babies near the mountains, where she enjoys all the amazing outdoor recreation Ogden, UT has to offer like mountain biking, running, hiking, and kayaking. She loves to read, travel, and enjoy many great adventures all over the world.
