Shinese holds an M.B.A. from Averett University and a B.S. in Accounting from Norfolk State University. In addition, she has received several certifications, including Certified Life Coach (CLC), Certified Transformational Coach (CTC), and Certified Six Sigma Green Belt (CSSG). She also serves as the co-chair of the mentoring program for the Virginia Chapter of Women in Cable Telecommunications™.

Shinese is also a National Association of Professional Women 2016-2017 VIP Woman of the Year Circle Inductee. Personally she loves being a wife and a mother.
