I've has studied the dynamics of relationships since my first career – professional acting. At a low point (rent due) I decided to get a "temporary" job. Someone took a chance on me. I accepted a job in sales and never looked back.
As I sold marketing services and grew in the ranks to VP of Sales, I continued to watch the nuances of business relationships and how they impacted the success of entire organizations.
Studies of high school and college students are showing that the ability to connect offline is diminishing, and that Social Intelligence skills will be among our biggest gaps in the next ten years. My parents were wrong. My MFA was a great idea! Props to Dan Pink for validating us all in his book, A Whole New Mind and forecasting that in this economy, the MFA, not the MBA would change the world. How could I not agree?
