Terry Powell's life has been dedicated to the development and advancement of the entrepreneur and those who desire to become one. As the name depicts, The Entrepreneur's Source (E-Source) was founded in 1984 as a business coaching firm providing support and guidance to aspiring business owners. Powell determined early on that an overwhelming 75 percent of the population had a strong desire to be self-sufficient, but barely 5 percent acted on it. He decided to focus on the remaining 70 percent and, through a journey of discovery, helped his clients identify their desired Income, Lifestyle, Wealth and Equity goals. Powell's company then introduced them to business concepts that would help them to reach these defined goals, needs and expectations.
Powell franchised The Entrepreneur's Source concept in 1998. Today, it's a global Business Coaching and advisory firm with over 150 franchisees, throughout the United States and Canada, helping people find self-sufficiency through business ownership. In recent years, The Entrepreneur's Source coaches have placed tens of thousands of people in businesses and franchises representing over $400 million in client investment dollars.
Powell's unique vision of providing a "one source resource" for all things entrepreneurial came to fruition with the acquisition of Business Advisers International, now AdviCoach, in 2005. It was a natural fit – now his companies could help individuals achieve their dream of business ownership and also provide coaching and advisory services to new and established business owners, helping them to increase their bottom line and maximize their return on investment.
In 2007, as a means of expediting growth of existing brands and providing world-class franchise resources for new brand introductions, Powell launched Franchise Source Brands International™ (FSBI), a multi-brand franchisor principally engaged in growing solid concepts into major international franchise brands. Today, the company operates highly-ranked franchise brands, including: AdviCoach®, The Entrepreneur's Source®, ZorSource®, Expense Reduction Coaching®, Decor&You®, Franchise Match® , WEBB Women Empowered by Business®.
Powell's experience ranges from developing franchises to consulting and advising future franchise owners and entrepreneurs. In November 2004, Powell earned his Certified Franchise Executive (CFE) certification from the International Franchise Association (IFA), a program The Entrepreneur's Source has been a major sponsor of since 2011. In addition, he is a Board Member on the IFA's Diversity Institute, promoting diversity and inclusion in the franchise community. He also annually sponsors the IFA's "Entrepreneur of the Year Award," which the company has backed for the past ten years.
Today with its 32-year-history, Powell is considered the founder of the Business Coaching profession and an expert in franchising and business coaching. He is frequently called upon as a resource and quoted in newspapers, magazines and business journals across North America. Powell also often speaks at franchise conferences, including educational classes at MFV Expos, on various franchise entrepreneurship topics.
In addition to helping small business owners, Powell has a passion for teaching youth about entrepreneurship to help them reach and achieve a bright future. He has served on the panel of the NFTE Program (Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship), a non-profit organization that teaches children in low-income communities in 12 countries the skills they need to start their own business, where he met with the contestants and judged a major competition.
