Raised in Northern Virginia, Terran Lamp is a medical miracle with an inspiring journey to share. The daughter of a 17 year old single mother, Terran was admitted into University of Virginia Newborn Special Care at 3 weeks old and her story of survival began. She was released 3 months later with a final diagnosis of Congestive Heart Failure, Congenital Heart Disease, VSD, Dextracardia, Questionable ASD, Congenital Renal Disease and Post Sepsis and Pneumonia. By age 4 she had made it through 2 open heart surgeries, gone into complete heart block, been diagnosed with two holes in her heart, received an implanted pacemaker and learned she only had one kidney. While most kids were busy learning to read books, Terran's grade school years were spent in the hospital learning to read EKG's. Following her many years of surgeries and monitoring, at age 10 Terran was once again fighting for her life and diagnosed with a dermoid brain tumor. At age 41, another devastating blow took Terran by surprise when she was unexpectedly diagnosed with breast cancer. In June 2016, Terran underwent a double mastectomy.
Terran has overcome what few adults could only imagine. Finishing high school at the age of 17 she holds her Bachelor of Science degree and her Master's in Business Administration from Purdue University. Terran recently moved from Los Angeles, CA to Chicago, IL where she combines her science background with her passion for communication and holds an impressive career in Medical Sales.
In addition to her role in Corporate America, Terran is making her mark as a successful entrepreneur and community leader. Terran is an author, speaker, radio show host, international heart health advocate, coach and most of all a Survivor! Recognizing the need for a positive message and Self Confidence within our neighborhoods she also founded Self Confidence Wear It. Self Confidence Wear It (SCWI) originated from the need for positive messaging and building self confidence among our community. SCWI creates awareness around the importance of self-confidence and gives people the tools to learn to love themselves.
Realizing life's moments are precious, Terran has become the creator of her own destiny. She has taken her medical conditions and her own struggles with confidence as a way to motivate others. Terran's story is all she has ever known and she began sharing as a way for others to see hope and realize that they are not their circumstances. Terran has shared her journey to at risk youth, ex-offenders, high school students, at health fairs and has been the patient keynote speaker for the Barbra Streisand Women's Heart Center in Beverly Hills. Her message is clear: Strive and Thrive! Live with No Excuses and Find Your Purpose! Terran is now in the process of starting the Terran L Lamp Strive and Thrive Foundation with the mission to educate, create awareness and promote prevention in the area of heart health & breast cancer empowering both men & women. Our foundation will give confidence to those individuals with one of these or multiple conditions encouraging them to Survive and Thrive to be most incredible YOU!
An active member of the community, Terran is a National WomenHeart Champion , an Ambassador for the American Heart Association and the Adult Congenital Heart Association and soon to be a mentor for future breast cancer patients and survivors! A biracial female and big sister in a blended family, Terran has been fortunate to be born with the inherent ability to adapt to many cultures and backgrounds. She is on the board of a Media Non-Profit Organization and plans to continue to stay in Corporate America while building her brand and maintaining community support. Terran hopes that all of her endeavors will encourage us all to be the best we can be in all areas of our lives.
