Actor, Singer, Author and Cancer Survivor

Alex Kip is a multifaceted artist and professional speaker living in New York City. He holds a B.F.A. degree in Musical Theater from the University of Michigan, and is a graduate in acting from the London Dramatic Academy. Kip has given keynote addresses to the UnitedHelathcare National Conference, Health Action Conference, and the University of Michigan to name a few. As an actor, he's appeared in feature films, indie films, TV, and various regional credits as a leading man. Kip is also a playwright whose primary work MY OTHER VOICE is based on his experience as a cancer survivor. MY OTHER VOICE premiered at the Arthur Miller Theatre was named "The Best of the Best" by the Detroit Free Press, covered by NPR, PBS, and other major news outlets. His writing has also been profiled in the Huffington Post. In 2012, Kip opened his own production company AKip Productions as a way to educate, inform, and inspire others through the performing arts and multimedia.

So how did he get here? Well, he's always been an all American Midwesterner from Columbus, Ohio (home of the Buckeyes), until he became a "traitor" by going to the University of Michigan (home of the Wolverines). He used to think he was the B.M.O.C. regardless of whether it was true or not. You know, the typical football loving, egocentric, obsessive singer... then, everything changed one fateful day in April. During his senior year of college, he was diagnosed with cancer and later told he had a 15-30% chance of survival. But for him, the worst news had already been realized: during his treatment, he lost his singing voice. Suddenly Superman was falling from the sky, as kryptonite found it's way into his body. Still, he knew he would fly again if he fought with all he had.

Thankfully, now he's in complete remission with his voice restored and stronger than ever! More importantly, he was given a gift that shifted and deepened his life perspective. Knowing that his talents as a writer, actor, and singer can contribute to the world at large rather than for his own personal gain means he can better serve others. Everyone in this world is blessed with certain gifts, and those gifts should never be wasted. His biggest hope is that everyone follows their bliss and shines their light on this world.
