Certified Professional Facilitator

Powerfully positive engagement with powerfully positive results

Public engagement expert Maureen "Mo" Douglas has consulted with Olympic organizing committees, governments, communities and major events. She's developed and delivered curriculum for college courses and executive seminars. And she's consistently brought polarized groups to middle ground.

For eight years, Mo served as Director of Communications and Community Relations for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. In the decade prior, she led the festivals and events department at Tourism Whistler, instructed at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) and ran her own event tourism consulting firm.

Since leading community relations for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Mo has provided public engagement strategic guidance to the Sochi 2014 and Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, created and delivered engagement strategies for major municipal government projects and served as communications director for IRONMAN Canada. In 2013, she was honoured to share her public engagement experience and strategic framework with senior government officials in Singapore, serving as program director for an executive course on "Public Sector Public Engagement and Communications" with Clariden Leadership Institute.

In February 2014, Mo traveled to Sochi, Russia as one-half of the City of Vancouver's mission team advocating for better LGBT inclusion in the Olympic Games with the International Olympic Committee. She's also become a sought-after speaker and workshop leader on public and workplace engagement.

An accessible, innovative facilitator and speaker, Mo is one of fewer than a 100 Canadians who have met the rigorous requirements of the International Association of Facilitator's Certified Professional Facilitator (CPF) designation. With 25 years of leadership in major events, tourism and public engagement, she has experienced all kinds of organizational dysfunction - successfully turning it around with humour, creativity and the expert knowledge gleaned throughout her career.

Colleagues and clients attribute Mo's success to an empowering leadership style, an unflappable demeanor, creative problem solving, refreshing honesty and a keen sense of humour.
