As a graduate of the Performing Arts High School and The Culinary Institute of America, Marcy takes special pride in producing events where the entertainment and décor are elegantly theatrical, the food is delicious and creative, the wines are thoughtfully chosen, and the service is spectacular. Marcy Blum Associates was launched in 1986 after having spent many years in the restaurant and catering business in New York City.
Marcy has created the weddings of Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon, Padma Lakshmi and Salman Rushdie, Colin Hanks and Samantha Bryant, and Billy Joel and Katie Lee. She has produced all sorts of other fantastic events including a 50th birthday celebration for Donny Deutsch, several of the original marketing events for Comedy Central, the five story party for the opening of Societe General in New York City, parties for Regis and Joy Philbin, and celebrations for members of the Rockefeller family. She has also created memorable events for many less well known but equally wonderful brides and grooms, corporations, and bar/bat mitzvah kids.
Marcy is the author of the best selling Wedding Planning for Dummies and The Wedding Kit for Dummies. She has been named a Trendsetter by Modern Bride Magazine, received the Legacy Award from the International Special Events Society, and named one of the country's five best planners by The New York Times Magazine.
She has been a featured guest on Oprah, The Nate Berkus Show, Good Morning America, The Today Show, Live with Regis and Kelly, CNBC Reports, Top Chef, Roccos' Dinner Party, and Good Day New York among others. Her events, speaking engagements, and consulting work currently takes her all over the world.
