Debbie Pokornik
Debbie is a graduated mother, green-tea enthusiast, dedicated dog owner, award winning author, speaker and empowerment guide. Her journey into personal development began when she was nearly fired from her first 'real' job at a financial institution and realized she was not living to her full potential. Her natural desire to help others excel in life along with her unique ability to make self-awareness 'obvious' led her easily into the role of teacher, speaker and guide.
Today Debbie has a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Manitoba. She has created and delivered numerous programs, training sessions, award winning products and books, all focused on helping people learn to manage their stress so it becomes livable, build strong relationships and feel more in control of their lives.
As the Chief Empowerment Officer for her company, Empowering NRG, Debbie provides opportunities and products to help people bring out the best in themselves and others - at home, at work and at play.
Debbie is funny, slightly quirky and has an uncanny knack for helping people shift their perspective, open up to new ideas and implement change. Her presentations are a nice blend of humour, story and inspiration.
Debbie's previous professional work experience includes:
• Early Childhood Support Worker, Sunrise School Division
• Community School Networker, Sunrise School Division
• Owner, Trainer & Group Facilitator, Better Parents and Better Kids
• Follow-up Worker, Genesis House Woman's Shelter
• Personal Banking Representative, Royal Bank of Canada
She is a member of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers (CAPS), Manitoba Chapter where she is the Treasurer and is in her second year as Chair for the CAPS National Editorial Board - Speaking of IMPACT Magazine.
Debbie lives on a small acreage in rural Manitoba with her husband, daughter, numerous pets and a yard that is far too big to keep free of unwanted plant growth.

Even An Elastic Can Only Stretch So Far; How To Avoid Snapping Despite Your Busy Life
We live in a time when overwhelm and over-connection are starting fires everywhere. In some cases its the work environment and the nature of the job that creates the potential for burn out or compassion fatigue. In others it's a lack of understanding of how to turn off at the end of the day or what they can do to recharge their batteries on a regular basis. Whatever the reason, this session is packed with ideas to help people detach, unwind, de-stress and rejuvenate.
Using Your Strengths & Creativity to Cultivate Resiliency and Navigate Change
Being resilient in the face of change or difficulty is never easy. This program provides ideas people can use immediately to help them overcome difficult situations. It is based on the premise that we all experience challenging situations at some point in our lives. Once we know how to TUCK'N ROLL, these circumstances might take our breath away, but will no longer leave us feeling like we can't go on.
Because You're Worth It; A Time of Wellness and Reflection
Many people work in environments that ask a lot of them and, some days, give very little back. This workshop provides an opportunity for participants to gain insight into what makes them tick as well as gain ideas to expand their self-care skillset. It's a nice blend between - spoil me a little - and personal development.
Why Learning New Things Will Always Be Awkward and Cause People to Resist Conquering Them
Do you ever feel like despite ample training, experience and ability there's something more that you need to learn before you can truly feel like you're an expert at your job? Have you ever attended a conference, course or training, been excited by the material, yet failed to put this knowledge to work in your life or business?
This program is all about this desire to learn as much as you can, countered by the reality that the new material is rarely implemented when you get back to...
