
Alasdair Gordon MacKinnon

AB, CANADAAlasdair completed his B.A. degree, a Certificate in Conflict Management in Mediation Negotiation and Arbitration and a Certificate in Environmental Management. Alasdair is the owner of MacKinnon Communications Group Inc. which offers conflict resolution services and training. Alasdair is a nationally Chartered Mediator and a Registered Family Mediator.
His 20 year career in the RCMP involved dealing on a daily basis with individuals and families in high conflict and working closely with a myriad of social agencies. While in the RCMP Alasdair obtained a B.A. degree and obtained training in principled mediation and negotiation. Also he has had the opportunity of working for 5 years on First Nations Reserve as well as working for 4 years on the Public Relations Unit. Alasdair has worked full time as a High School School Resource Officer and was the RCMP Coordinator of the Central Alberta Crime Stoppers Program.
Alasdairs' next career in the NRCB allowed him to mediate with farm operator's and their neighbours as well as working with rural municipalities and municipal districts on a variety of land ,environmental and agricultural issues. He was given the opportunity of completing his Certificate in Environmental Management through the University of Calgary. In 2011 he was part of an NRCB team that won the Alberta Premier's Award of Excellence.

In 2012, Alasdair launched MacKinnon Communications Group Inc. which offers conflict resolution services and conflict resolution training to individuals, families and companies. He is currently working with Agri-Trend Inc. in their Land Resources Division He recently presented at the annual convention of the Alberta Association of Agricultural Societies in Edmonton and recently was a guest instructor at Olds College on the issue of conflict resolution through effective communication. Currently Alasdair also works with the Town of Innisfail on a 4 week seminar for the general public on enhancing communication skills. He also has a contract with Alberta Justice to provide mediation for Small Claims files, Divorce and Family Mediation and Alberta Children's Services files.He recently learned that he has been added to the roster of mediators for the Edmonton and northern Alberta Better Business Bureau.
