High energy educator, skilled motivator, and astute course developer who designs effective training programs tailored to specific needs of clients and students

About Marie

Marie is a nationally regarded real estate educator, speaker and trainer. As the previous owner of Charleston’s Professional School of Real Estate, a widely-read real estate columnist, and author, she brings a wealth of energy, enthusiasm and "practical experience" to her informative and individualized seminars.

Commitment to Students

Spodek’s commitment to real estate education continues to improve the quality of instruction at every level from pre-entry to sales to instructing. She has an outstanding ability to make valuable connections between diverse issues and subjects that serve to enrich her presentations, making them even more effective. By keeping technical jargon to a minimum, she insures that non-technical people comprehend the material and remain alert and interested throughout the course.

In her words: “I’m an educator, not entertainer. I see it as my mission to impart the specific information needed by students to pass proficiency exams, enrich their general knowledge even if they do not remain in real estate, and to provide memorable, perhaps ‘life-changing’ experiences that will serve them well throughout life.”

National Recognition

In 1996, the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) gave special recognition to Ms. Spodek for developing a seminar “Reducing Radon Risk in Real Estate Transactions,” now offered throughout the country. Like all of her seminars, the environmental series focus on the practical, “what to do” issues confronting licensees in the marketplace.

Recognizing her work as a teacher, trainer, motivator, and salesperson in the field of real estate, the Real Estate Educators Association (REEA) awarded her the Jack Wiedemer Distinguished Career Award in 2001.

In 2004, REEA named her course “Caught on Camera: Antitrust in the 21st Century” as Education Program of the Year. In 2006, her article “Antitrust: Is It the Real Issue?” was recognized as REEA's JOURNAL Best Article of the Year.

Educating Educators

Often described as an “instructor’s instructor,” Ms. Spodek is a senior instructor of REEA’s Instructor Development Workshop (IDW) and wrote its Course Development Workshop (CDW). In addition to the IDW & CDW, Marie developed “Perking Up Prelicense” to help instructors improve the content, structure and delivery of their prelicense courses. All three seminars offer concrete, step-by-step ways to dramatically improve material retention and increase student interest.

By invitation from state regulators, Spodek has presented “how to teach” courses to instructors in many states including the following: Alabama, Alaska, Connecticut, Idaho, Iowa, Nebraska, Nevada, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Utah.
