Katie Kitschke has worked at SAFFRON Centre Ltd, which is a non profit organization in Strathcona County that specializing in both Public Education and also in offering counselling to victims of Trauma, Abuse and Sexual Violence, since February 2008. She has made it her personal mandate to educate as many people as she possibly can in her lifetime. Her Public Education presentations range in topics from Boundaries and Assertiveness, to Sexual Assault and Harassment Awareness and also to discussions regarding the internet and the impact that it is having on society. Katie has developed all the presentations and programs with the input of youth to keep current with the changing issues that affect everyone, regardless of their age, income, geographic location and so on. Katie has found through her experience that the issues that exist in Urban communities can also exist in Rural communities because the Internet is available everywhere, to everyone. She believes that it is important to empower everyone to make the right choices both in the “real world”and also online so that they can protect themselves and their families. She has spoken to thousands of youth and adults all over Alberta about how they can keep the members of their community safe online.
