
Daryn Jones
Daryn Jones has been a writer and a weekly correspondent on Rick Mercer's Monday Report since the programme debuted on CBC Television in January 2004. He is also the star, writer and producer of Buzz, long-running series on The Comedy Network and the host of CBC TV’s Over the Rainbow. Jones become the longstanding host of MTV’s flagship series MTV Live for over 5 years, and in 2010 was a correspondent for the Vancouver 2010 Olympics on CTV.
Among his extensive television credits are an entertainment reporting role on E-Talk for CTV, hosting and writing on YTV's series The Zone, and hosting Laughing Matters, a stand-up comedy show on The Comedy Network. Jones was a regular guest on Open Mike with Mike Bullard, and a featured performer at the 2000 Canadian Comedy Awards. He has appeared on TSN's Off the Record, The Chatroom on Talk TV, and made guest appearances on The Lofters on Life Network, U8 On Film on the Independent Film Network, and Talk TV's State of the Union.
He received the 2001 Gemini Award for Best writing in a Comedy Series' for The Buzz.
Among the stars he has interviewed are Mel Gibson, Britney Spears, Bruce Willis, Tommy Lee, Orlando Jones, Christine Aguillera, Robert De Niro, Chris Klein and Burt Reynolds.
The radio side of his career includes hosting The Mad-Dog and Daryn Morning Show on Toronto's KISS 92FM followed by his solo programme The Daryn Jones Show also on KISS.
As an actor, Daryn Jones has appeared The Famous Jett Jackson series on the Disney and Family Channels, in the movies-of-the week Rough Air with Eric Roberts, and Seventeen Again with Tonya Lee Williams. He also appeared in the feature film Do U Like 2 Watch for Showcase.
