
Melissa Williams
Melissa Williams is the author of the Iggy the Iguana chapter book series, the Turtle Town chapter book series and the Little Miss Molly picture book for kids, the owner of LongTale Publishing, and founder of the Literacy Non-Profit Foundation–READ3Zero, which hosts the annual I Write Short Stories by Kids for Kids publishing contest.
Melissa’s first series came out in 2008 after completing a Master’s degree in professional counseling. Melissa's background in the counseling and education field ignited her stories through books and public speaking inside the schools. Melissa's school visit presentations cover character development, creative writing and publishing on the K-8th grade level. Her staff development presentations cover ways to inspire children when using their inner gifts of creativity and imagination. Key points in her talks include the roles of encouragement, getting on the child's level, planting the foundation for success and numerous creative writing and brainstorming techniques for children. Melissa also hosts writing workshops and summer camps for her readers throughout the year.
