
Chantal Sicile-Kira
Chantal Sicile-Kira is an award-winning author of five books, aninternatioanlly recognized expert known for the practical information and inspiraiton she provides to parents, educators, and students. As the Founder of AutismCollge.com, Chantal provides practical information on-line. Chantal's first practical experience with autism was at Fairview State Hospital, teaching self-help and community living skills to severely developmentally disabled and autistic adolescents in preparation for their de-institutionalization. Then, as a case manager for Orange County Regional Center for the Developmentally Disabled, Chantal provided information and resources to families. Chantal has served on the California Senate Select Committee on Autism & Related Disorders, and was appointed to serve as Co-Chair, South Counties Autism Regional Taskforce.
Her most recent book is A Full Life with Autism: From Learning to Forming Relationships to Achieving Independence (Macmillan 2012), co-authored with her son, Jeremy, who graduated from high school at age 22 with a 3.78 GPA, and gave a commencement speech using voice output technology. Jeremy is the Autism Research Institute's Youth Representative to the United Nations, and the California Youth Leader for the Global Autistic Initiative. Chantal has been invited to speak in over 50 cities in at least 20 states, and in Canada, Qatar, Finland, France, and Barbados. Clients include parent and professional organizations, school districts, supported living and employment organizations, area boards, disability organizations, and local, state and regional chapters of autism non-profit organizaitons. On a national level, Chantal has been invited to present at the annual conferences of the Autism Society of America, Natioanl Autism Association, Autisom One, Autism Research Institute and NATTAP (Network of Autism Training and Technical Assistance Programs).
