AZ, US
Driven by a passion for hummingbirds; able to relate their amazing characteristics to audiences of all types.

H. Ross Hawkins, Ph.D., could not have anticipated that when he was introduced to hummingbirds in 1988 it would transform his life.

His interest in them expanded from a scientific curiosity at first, to becoming a serious hummingbird photographer, to becoming their protector. In 1996, Hawkins filled a pressing need by forming The Hummingbird Society, an international nonprofit organization working to save endangered hummingbirds. He has deepened and broadened his understanding of them ever since. He continues today as the Executive Director of the Society.

After years of study and presentations, he knows that it is exciting to learn about hummingbirds. He has also come to understand that there is also much we can learn from them, and that we can have a close and special relationship with them. Weaving brilliant hummingbird images through his stories and his expert understanding of the world's most charismatic birds, he keeps his audiences on the edge of their seats.
