Making a Lasting Difference, One Jacket at a Time

Alison was deeply moved when reunited after 20 years with a half-sister who was both receiving welfare payments and dying from cancer.  Compelled to make her own life a tribute to women like her sister who need a bridge to achieve better lives, Alison left her career as a flight attendant for United Airlines after September 11, 2001 to launch Jackets for Jobs Inc.  This is a non profit organization that provides employment etiquette, career skills training, and professional clothes to low income individuals.  Today, Jackets for Jobs is a ten-year success story that has served over 10,000 people and earned accolades and support from Donald Trump, ABC's "The View," NBC's "Today Show," and Oprah's O Magazine.  Alison was even invited to ring the closing bell on NASDAQ to honor her contributions.

From Flight Attendant and Homecoming Queen to Award-Winning Entrepreneur

Alison's love affair with style got a late start.  She wore a school uniform through high school where she was voted homecoming queen, wore jeans and sweatshirts while earning her Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University, and returned to a uniform while working for the airline.  Today, wearing the pearls that have become part of her own signature style, Alison is a contributing author of the book Inspired Style.  In this book, Alison and other top image expert reveal strategies to always look and be your best.

Accolades, Awards, and Associations

Alison's community contributions over the last decade have earned attention in ways that extend well beyond fashion and beauty. She has been honored among the Women of Excellence by the Michigan Chronicle.  She has also been named Entrepreneur of the Year by Alabama A&M University and Businesswoman of the Year by the National Association of Negro and Professional Business Women, among other honors.  She is a member of the Association of Image Consultants International.  Alison graduated from the Women's Campaign School at Yale University, sponsored by Yale Law School.  She is active with the NAACP and was a candidate for the 2006 Michigan State Senate.
