Rebecca Scritchfield
MA, RD, LD ACSM HFS
DC, USRebecca Scritchfield, R.D. is living her passion of inspiring people to take back their health. Through nutrition counseling, speaking, and media work, she advocates a balanced lifestyle of realistic eating, exercise, and stress management habits that promote self-care, not self-harm.
As a nutrition therapist, she helps clients "detox" themselves from dieting and all the negative habits that have left them confused, frustrated, and deprived while seeking thinness. She helps people embrace "it's not what I weigh, it's what I do" and focus on building positive, "feel good" behaviors that motivate and boost confidence.
Rebecca is creator of The Nurture PrinciplesÒ five motivational "mantras" to help people navigate their personal path to wellness, which she presents to organizations nationwide. She also started the first online social media community to remind people about the importance of self-care called "the ME movement" . Through blogs, Twitter chats, and a self-care pledge, people support each other to adopt a guilt-free "me FIRST" mindset - just like the airplane oxygen mask, "take care of me first and I can take care of others even better."
Rebecca is one of the first registered dietitians appointed to the ShareCare nutrition team, a free interactive social community for health "Q&A" co-founded by Dr. Oz and WebMD founder Jeff Arnold in partnership with Harpo Studios, HSW International, Sony Pictures Television and Discovery Communications.
Rebecca has worked with organizations such as Bayer, Allstate, and Girl Scouts. She has appeared on Today Show, MSNBC, Fox News, and CNN. She has been quoted in print publications including The Washington Post, Prevention, Women's Health, and Runner's World.
Rebecca is a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University master's degree program. She is a registered dietitian and a certified Intuitive Eating professional. In 2009, she was honored by American Dietetic Association as "Young Dietitian of the Year."
