Kaillie Humphries

BC, CANADA
Olympic Bobsled Gold Medalist

Born and Raised in Calgary, Ab, Kaillie Humphries grew up with a dream of winning Olympic Gold, after watching a family friend, Mark Tewksbury, win in the 92' Summer Olympics in Barcelona. She grew up ski racing as a kid, but would later switch over to the sport of Bobsleigh, when she realized her Dream would not become a reality in skiing.

Humphries started bobsleigh eight years ago at the age of 17, and spent her first four years in the sport as a brakeman on the World Cup circuit, culminating in her being named to the 2006 Olympics in Torino, Italy, as the alternate.

Following the incredible Olympic experience, Humphries was poised to drive her way back to the Olympics in Vancouver 2010, having moved into the pilot's position during the 2006-07 season.

With only a few months of driving under her belt, Humphries' success steering the sled was instant. She was the overall points leader on the Development circuit in her first year as a pilot, and settled for a silver medal at the World Junior Championships.

During the 2007/08 season she finished 5th overall on the World Cup circuit and had an amazing 5th place finish at the World Championships in Altenberg, Germany. This was the highest result ever attained by a North-american athlete in their second year as a pilot, and first year on the World Cup.

This past season Humphries built on her success over the past 3 years, culminating in a Gold Medal for her and teammate Heather Mose during the Olympic Games in Vancouver. A first for Canada in the sport of Women's Bobsleigh. They set 7 new start records, and 2 new tack records all of which propelled them to a 2nd place finish in the overall World Cup standings. During the Olympics they recorded the fastest speed in the World registering at 147 km/hr.

Humphries is now focused on competing for Canada over the next 4 years en route to defending her Olympic Title during the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia
