PHYLLIS YVONNE STICKNEY has longevity and staying power in the industry. She has been at the vanguard for many of the improvements to the Theater and Arts Festivals that are presented annually such as THE NATIONAL BLACK THEARER FESTIVAL THE ANTIONAL BLACK THEATER FESTIVAL THE SHADES OF BLACK THEATER FESTIVAL THE URBAN WORLD FILM FESTIVAL, THE PAN AFRICAN FILM FESTIVAL among other contributions. She is a born leader. An ambassador of arts she has been invited to perform her conscious comedy in Israel, to dance in Senegal and studied the European form of cabaret production in Germany for two years.
Phyllis Yvonne Stickney received the CUSTODIAN OF THE CULTURAL CONSCIOUSNESS AWARD from Chicago's ETA Creative Arts Center, she was inducted into the Black Hall of Fame in 1998, she received The ELLIE CHARLES AWARD for her CONTRIBUTION to SOCIETY and the ARTS, the 2006 AFRICAN JEWEL AWARD as well as being a world class artist, producer, director, an author, motivational speaker, clothing designer, community activist, businesswoman and surrogate mother to many.

Community Activist Ms. Stickney moved into a building in Harlem 27 years ago. The apartment was burned out and was a city managed building. Phyllis saw beyond the charred wood and neglected state of disrepair, instead she saw the possibilities, and she saw the hard wood floors and the view of the majestic church steeples through her window. Ms Stickney stood up to lead in the right way. A cleaning party is where and how she began getting the job done. scrubbing the lobby and did stop until she singled handedly closed two "crack houses" and a "shooting gallery" that ultimately established a Tenant's Association and organized the building to tenant management and purchase building from the NYC through a special program. The construction began about 1 year ago. The building is located on the world famous 7th Avenue in Manhattan in New York City. The market value for an apartment comparable to Ms. Stickney's is 1.3 million dollars. The building has 52 units.
Motivational Speaker Phyllis Yvonne Stickney was the crowd pleaser for the 7 out of 13 years she toured as a keynote speaker with AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMAN ON TOUR. The ESSENCE MUSIC FESTIVAL invited Ms. Stickney to speak as a panelist with the annual EMPOWERMENT SEMINARS for 4 consecutive years. She also held the coveted spot of host of the MAIN STAGE at the SUERDOME Ms. Stickney set the precedent that Monique later followed.
Director Ms. Stickney directed the stage show BEEN THERE DONE THAT with Judge Mathis and gospel artist Fred Hammond. The production was the first of the genre to sell out the Paramount Theater at MADSION SQUARE GARDEN. She received special notices and favorable reviews for bringing integrity to gospel stage play. ALTERNATIVE CAREERS in the ARTS is an entertainment industry training program that Ms. Stickney developed. The program offers hands on training in the technical and administrative disciplines of film television and record production.

She has a book titled LOUD THOUGHTS for QUIET MONETS a collection of poetry and personal perspectives. Selected pieces were recorded on her CD with the same title. Productions like SHOWTIME AT THE APOLLO were sold to network television by the pilot who featured Ms. Stickney as the brilliant comedienne who was slated to be the first host of the televised version. Phyllis Yvonne Stickney's formal education began at the University of Delaware where she became an Associate in the Theater Department. Ms. Stickney was soon called to New York City where she continued her studies at the Institute of New Cinema Artist.
