Adia Z. May is a Chicago native and graduate of Howard University and the University of Iowa College of Law and University of Iowa Tippie School of Management. At the University of Iowa, she was the only person of color and the only female in her joint JD/MBA class. She began her legal career with the law firm of Wildman, Harrold, Allen & Dixon, a firm of over 200 attorneys, offered her a corporate associate attorney position in Chicago. While practicing corporate law, she became more aware of her interests in entertainment. After leaving the firm, she relocated to Los Angeles to pursue her dream to become an entertainment lawyer and tv/film producer. She is now living her dream. Ms. May's experience includes stints at the Screen Actors Guild headquarters in Los Angeles, CA as a Business Representative in Residuals and later as an Advisor in Entertainment Contracts. She was also the head of Business & Legal Affairs at Codeblack Entertainment.
Currently, she has a viable entertainment company in Los Angeles, CA. She services clients in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York. In addition to serving her clients, Ms. May is a film and television producer with several projects in development.
Ms. May is active in a number of organizations. She serves as a member of the NAACP Image Awards Nominating Committee and the Entertainment Law Committee of the Langston Bar Association. She is also on the Board of Directors of the Diamond in the Raw Stuntwomen's Foundation, the Executive Board of the Howard University Alumni Association of Greater Los Angeles and the Board of Directors of the National Black Pre-Law Conference. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Ms. May prides herself on her thoroughness and zealous representation of her clients, whether serving as an advisor or negotiator. She has successfully represented a wide-variety of clients in the entertainment arena. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and fashion. One of the issues close to Adia's heart is mental health and inspiring people who are dealing with family members and loved ones with mental health challenges.
