When it comes to speaking and presentations Joel has been studying, doing and teaching it for over 20 years.

Joel is owner of Professionally Speaking (established in 1995) and is author of three books:

  1. The Wedding MC Handbook
  2. Little Helpings of Food for Thought
  3. The Speaker's Tool Box - Perfecting the Craft of Speaking

Speaking is not new. It has been with us through the generations along with the anxiety associated with it and the desire to be better. Joel has leveraged his own experiences and created unique concepts such as The Speaker's Tool Box, Listening with Your Eyes, and Managing the Noise. These concepts put a different perspective on this age-old challenge. Whether you are speaking one on one, delivering presentations to a group or giving a speech to a large audience, the unique concepts that Joel has developed apply.

He has been a member of Toastmasters International since 1989. He has earned several designations, including their highest designation, DTM (Distinguished Toastmaster). Joel is a charter member and Past President of NLAPS (Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Professional Speakers), Past President and member of CAPS (Canadian Association of Professional Speakers) Atlantic Chapter, Director of Communications CAPS National Board (2016-2017) and member of GSF (Global Speakers Federation). He is the co-founder and host of momondays St. John's. momondays is a monthly, open mike for speakers' event that is operating in several cities in Canada.

Joel has provided his services to a wide variety of individuals, businesses and organizations in Atlantic Canada and beyond. He has presented to conferences and conventions at the local, provincial and national levels
