
Derek Puddester
MD MEd FRCPC
ON, CANADADr. Puddester is an Associate Professor of Medicine at uOttawa where he is the Director of Canada’s first Faculty Wellness Program. His clinical appointment is with the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario where he is the Medical Director of the Behavioural Neurosciences and Consultation-Liaison Team.
In addition to his work with children, youth and families, Dr. Puddester provides clinical and educational support to medical students and physicians in Ottawa and across Canada. He is also frequently called upon to contribute to research and policy development in physician health, and is invited to provide over 50 keynotes, workshops, and lectures annually.
Dr. Puddester holds an BA (English/Russian Studies), BMedSc, and MD from Memorial University of Newfoundland. He completed his residency at McMaster University and a fellowship at uOttawa where he also completed his MEd.
Dr. Puddester was lead editor and contributor to the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeon's CanMEDS Physician Health Guide: A Practical Handbook, producer of Carpe Diem (a documentary on physician resiliency), and project lead onePhysicianHealth.com and eWorkplaceHealth.com. All of these projects, of course, reached completion with the help of incredible experts and partner-organizations and he thanks them all immensely.
