Author of From Survival to Thrival: teaching organizations and individuals how to rethink success

Kathrin Lake is author of the book, From Survival to Thrival and founder of Survival to Thrival.com, a coaching and networking organization located in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. She also works as a Certified Human Resources Professional in which training, speaking and coaching are key components of her work, and has a history of collaborating with up and coming entrepreneurs*.  She has been active for over 15 years in various leadership roles in Toastmaster International.  She has owned her own training company since 1999 in which she created and still runs popular courses such as Putting Off Procrastination. Kathrin also has a background in the theatre and has been an award-wining playwright. Her first non-fiction book is From Survival to Thrival. She is currently working on another non-fiction account about her experiences in Mexico and the town that she owns property and lives in with her partner for part of every Canadian winter.

Kathrin's speeches focus on can people and organizations change virtually overnight?  Can they start thriving instead of surviving?  What is this thing called success that we are all after?  By turning conventional ideas of success on their ears and introducing an original meaning we start to derive the clues that individuals, managers and leaders can use to bring purpose to their daily lives and move from surviving to thriving.

Kathrin Lake has been described as the new Renaissance woman; a woman who, "has been everything, or at least tried it once."  She has been an award-winning playwright and poet, as well as tried her hand at acting, directing, stand-up comedy, clowning and rapier fencing.  She has been a hair model, a business writer, a documentary filmmaker, a fundraiser, a bartender, an event coordinator, a writing teacher and she sang in a gospel choir.  She founded and edited a community newspaper, has been a General Manager for a well-known Vancouver dance/theatre company, and a Human Resources Manager in the finance sector, and an HR consultant for a variety of businesses and industries, helping entrepreneurs make their businesses more successful. She is now  an author, speaker, human resources professional and coach. For fun, she practices swing dancing, rollerblading and singing, all of which she started later in life, as she learned how to thrive.

It is always a pleasure to work with her because she is a team player who uses her creativity to find practical solutions. Kathrin also brings a combination of integrity, work ethic, and kindness to everything she does." - Amelia Chan, Principal, Higher Options Consulting Services

"Our team members felt the seminar [Putting Off Procrastination] provided them with valuable tools to determine what is driving procrastination and to find ways to overcome those and increase efficiency. The procrastination assessment was used by the rest of our team for internal assessment... I would recommend this workshop to any individual or organization where time management and procrastination may be an issue."  Majid Khoury, President, Market Explorers now Ipsos Reid ASI
