It's exciting for me to be on stage in front of an enthusiastic audience. It's easy to get carried away by your ego. I had an Ah-ha moment several years ago. It was the turning point in my speaking career. I came to realize that the audience is more important than I am. Sounds so simple, yet, it requires transcending one's ego.
I no longer see myself as a "speaker" but as a servant who needs to do what's best for the audience. To make an impact that help peoples make their lives better. This is all that matters, not the hype or the bells and whistles or the ego.
