TX, USI help dental practices uncover hidden vulnerabilities and build accountable systems that protect against embezzlement — using real-world experience, not theory.
Susan Gunn helps dental and healthcare practices uncover hidden vulnerabilities and build accountable systems that protect what they’ve worked so hard to build — using real-world experience, not theory.
With nearly 30 years of experience in practice management consulting, financial oversight, and fraud examination, Susan brings a rare depth of insight into how and why financial breakdowns occur within professional practices. She has conducted hundreds of investigations and consultations across the U.S. and internationally, helping professionals uncover fraud, strengthen systems, and restore trust within their organizations.
Susan began her career in corporate America before launching her consulting firm after recognizing a critical gap: many practice owners did not fully understand the financial health of their own business. She became a pioneer in developing practical, understandable systems that create accountability between practice management software and financial reporting — empowering owners to regain clarity and control.
A nationally recognized speaker, Susan is known for her engaging, story-driven presentations that combine humor, compassion, and hard-earned wisdom. Her sessions are consistently highly rated because audiences don’t just learn — they connect. Attendees often say they may forget the slides, but they remember the stories — and through those stories, they remember what matters.
Her work took a defining turn when a trusted employee stole from a practice she had helped train. That experience led Susan to become a Certified Fraud Examiner, deepening her commitment to helping professionals protect themselves before a problem ever occurs. Today, she is one of the few voices in dentistry who brings both investigative experience and practical prevention strategies to the stage.
Susan is the author of 47 books for professional practices, including Money In, Money Out, Managing Accounts Payable in Your Practice, and the widely used QuickBooks In Your Practice series. She also co-authored the American Dental Association’s Practical Guide to Expert Business Strategies and contributed to ADA Guidelines for Practice Success: Managing Finances Best Practices.
Previously a longtime Professional Member of the National Speakers Association, Susan has been recognized by Dentistry Today as a Leader in Consulting for over 20 years. The American Dental Association has also recognized her as a financial subject matter expert and appointed her as a consultant to the Council on Dental Practice.
In addition to her professional work, Susan is the author of the memoir Matters of the Heart, based on her 16-year journey caring for her parents and step-grandmother while building her business. This deeply personal experience shapes her perspective on leadership, resilience, and living a life that impacts others.
Susan lives in Arlington, Texas, and remains actively involved in her community, serving in leadership roles that support arts, tourism, and local development.
Susan’s goal is simple: to help professionals protect their practice, lead with integrity, and build systems that support both profitability and peace of mind.
