As a radio show co-host, an author and a professional speaker, Debra Atkinson is the Voice for Fitness, sharing with audiences the art and science of getting more balance, more freedom, and more love out of life. She relates to her audiences with humor and passionate belief that everyone can reach their potential. Drawing on over twenty five years experience in the fitness industry, she specializes in helping personal trainers develop thriving businesses in unique niches that result in rewarding careers and balanced lives. She works with clients from all walks of life who learn to make physical activity the vehicle for getting more out of every area of life. A Coach U Certified Graduate, Debra also holds a Masters degree in Sports and Exercise Psychology from Iowa State University. Prior to increasing her time speaking and writing, she owned and operated a business devoted to personal training, helping clients as a Clinical Exercise Specialist to overcome obstacles and achieve their physical best. As a Senior Lecturer in Kinesiology at ISU for 12 years, she taught core courses that prepare students for leadership roles in fitness and supervises student internships for health-fitness management majors. In addition to being an ACE faculty CEC provider, she is an international presenter at events including: IDEA Personal Training Congress and FACT Fest, Chicago, Ill (2002, 2003, and 2007), IDEA's World Convention in San Diego (2004), and CAN-FIT-PRO in Toronto, Canada (2005, 2006) and National Strength and Conditioning Association's Personal Training Congress (2008, 2009).
